What is Grating?

A manufactured product, gratings is an assembled grid of parallel bearing bars with cross bars used to space and hold the bearing bars erect. The assembled grid is used to cover or floor any of various openings. Grating provides a surface but allows air, light, heat, sound and water to pass through. It is strong and durable, and virtually maintenance free.

What Materials Are Used to Make Grating?

Many different materials can be used to manufacture gratings, including carbon steel, mild steel, stainless steel, alloys, aluminium and FRP. Each material has specific advantages; carbon steel industrial flooring gratings are good for high-traffic floor areas; aluminium and FRP grating is lightweight; corrosion resistant and non-sparking, so it is well-suited to situations where strength to weight ratio is important, such as wastewater treatment plants. Stainless steel grating is used in areas with elevated temperatures and certain corrosive environments.

What is Electroforged Gratings?

Electroforged grating is made by electrically fusing steel cross bars to steel bearing bars. An economical product, electroforged gratings are suitable for walkways, mezzanine floor, security screens and general industrial, and commercial purposes.

Are Electroforged Gratings available in Stainless Steel or Aluminium?

Electroforged grating is produced in mild steel and stainless steel but not in Aluminum.

What technology do you use to produce floor gratings?

In this process, square twisted cross bars are welded or electro-forged to the rectangular shaped bearing bars by a process that combines heavy hydraulic pressure with a heavy electric current. Bearing bars are feed, pre-straightened and cut and cross bars are feed directly from coils. Two crossbars are shot into the welder and placed under the electrodes by the puling hooks for simultaneously welding.

Are you providing standard panels as well as custom (cut-to-size) gratings?

Grating is either custom fabricated or provided in "stock panels" and is available from Indiana in a wide variety of sizes, spacing, thicknesses, surfaces, and finishes, depending on the application's environment and load requirement.

Do you manufacture Stair Treads/Stair Stringers/Safety Handrails?

Yes, we manufacturers stair treads in all types of metal grating with a choice of "nosings" and prefabricated for easy assembly to stair stringers. We also manufacture Safety Handrails.

What is the application of a grating?

Walkway, Oil & Gas Rig Platform, Working Platform, Mezzanine Floor, Ramps, Decks, Porch, Stairways, Stair Tread, Anti Slip Stairs, Drainage Channel, Drain Covers, Steps, Flooring, Gully Covers, Grates etc.

What is the usage of a grating clip?

Clamping the grating eliminates costly and time consuming welding and drilling. No access below the grating is required, resulting in a quick and simple installation. The Grating Clip can be installed with a flat head screwdriver and can be easily removed allowing the grating to be repositioned or removed for maintenance purposes.

What are the standard panel sizes of your Gratings?

Standard gratings panels sizes 6m X 1m / 6m X 3ft / 20ft X 3ft / 24 ft X 3 ft

Do you do erection of gratings at site?

Do you manufacture cut to size (tailor made) gratings?

Our niche is manufacturing cut-to-size gratings according to the client’s requirements to supply to projects

What is a Cable Tray System?

As per the “National Electrical Code”, a cable tray system is "a unit or assembly of units or sections and associated fittings forming a rigid structural system used to securely fasten or support cables and raceways.

Cable trays support cable the way that roadway bridges support traffic. A bridge is a structure that provides safe passage for traffic across open spans. Cable tray is the bridge that allows for safe transport of wires/cables across open spans. Therefore, think of cable tray as the structural component of a building's electrical system.

What standards / guidelines are available for cable tray systems?

A) The National Electrical Code publishes the standards for all types of electrical applications. Articles 318, 250, and 800 cover various aspects of cable tray systems.

B) NEMA, (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), is an association comprised of the major cable tray manufacturers in the industry. This committee has published three documents to date: NEMA VE1, FG1 and VE2.

NEMA VE1 covers general cable tray definitions, manufacturing standards, performance standards, test standards, and application information.

NEMA FG1 addresses the standards for fiberglass cable tray systems.

NEMA VE2 is a cable tray installation guideline which covers receiving and unloading material, storage of material, and general installation practices.

What materials / finishes are available for the various cable tray systems?

1) Mild Steel, 2) Stainless Steel, 3) Aluminium, 4) Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP)

A) Plain, B) Pre-Galvanized, C) Hot Dip Galvanized after Fabrication (plain steel which is hot dipped after fabrication) E) Wire Mesh F) Painted G) Powder Coated

What configurations are available?

a) Straight sections are available to route cables in a horizontal or vertical plane.

b) Fittings are available to route cables in various directions in either the horizontal or vertical planes. Typical examples of fittings include elbows, tees, crosses, and risers. Each of these fittings is available in various radii and bends angles.

c) Covers are accessories and shouldn't be in here unless splices etc. are included.

What support methods are available?

a) U channel flexible

b) Supporting system

c) and Other Standard Support System

Each of these support methods is preferable in different applications.

Before selecting the type of cable tray, cable tray configuration(s), and support method desired, what additional information do I need to supply to you?

a) where to install (Job site and installation considerations (Outdoor/Indoor))

b) existing supports available (it affect the length and strength requirements)

d) corrosion requirements affect the materials and finishes

e) load on the trays

f) supporting span distance

g) any other important information
